Columbia Yacht Club celebrates its 125th Anniversary this year! This demands not just one party, but a full year of festivities.
We launch the year by unveiling a special 125th Anniversary burgee, which you’ll be seeing all over the Club Ship. As with everything planned for this year, it honors to our past while looking forward to the future. The five festive ribbons on the burgee represent celebration and were inspired by the five ships (or barges) that have been home to Columbia Yacht Club.
The colors also represent the four phases of our history that we’ll commemorate throughout the year. February and March pay homage to our Club beginnings (1892-1918), symbolized by the red and black ribbons. The spring months, marked by the golden ribbon, remember the Roaring 20s, the Depression and WWII (1919-1945). The green ribbon takes us from July through September, highlighting the post-war years of the Florida (1946-1982). Our year concludes in the fall, with the blue ribbon representing the “blue skies” on the horizon.
Visit often to learn about our history and all the details of the special events planned for 2017.
